It might mean matching offers, or offering things that employees simply can’t get anywhere else. This can be tricky, but there are many companies, like Google, who seem to know exactly what to do. One key to reducing employee turnover is to have the most pleasant working environment possible. This might mean abandoning the traditional office look for something more modern and even more casual. Adding extras can also help to avoid employee turnover. If they have things with your company that they can’t get anywhere else, they are more likely to stay. Some things that companies do is to offer in-office daycare, laundry services, gym facilities, above average food choices, and even lounge rooms that include games. When it comes to money, reducing employee turnover might mean that you have to remain competitive in the wage department, and you have to offer good benefit packages. It also means offering things like 401k programs and even stock options. The bottom line is that reducing employee turnover means treating employees as if they are the most important part of the business. In most cases, that is exactly what they are. If you make their work environment and their lives easier and more fun, they are not going to want to go anywhere, even when a more lucrative offer may come their way. Things that make life good are essential, and when your employees are happy, they are loyal. Loyalty is not what it used to be, but it does exist. Do what you can to make it a part of your workplace.
