Can You Really Find Free Access To Credit Reports?
In today’s world, your credit score is more important than how much you might have in the bank. Without good credit, your chances of getting a loan for a car or a home are very small. You can try to save up for them, but that can take a very long time. It can be hard to get any line of credit without someone checking up on your credit score. This means that you may want to find free access to credit reports, but you do have to be careful where you look. Another great reason why you might want to keep up with your credit report is to be sure that you are not the victim of identity theft. Those with good credit are at the worst risk, as those with bad credit can’t really have their identity stolen. If you have bad credit and can’t get a loan, those trying to use your social security number for the same reason aren’t going to have any luck either. If this is a concern for you, free access to credit reports can help you stay on top of things and will help you feel more secure about your family finances. When you look for free access to credit reports, you may not be getting what you think you are getting. There are many advertisements that promise this, but there is usually a catch. For the most part, you may have to sign up for a service that sends you a report each month, and that comes with a yearly fee. You may get a free peek, but you won’t get it until you have paid for the service per their requirements. If you want to have regular updates for whatever reason, this might not be a bad deal for you, but remember that it is not really free access to credit reports in the way that you imagined it to be. There is a new program that allows you to have free access to credit reports once a year, depending on when you were born. You can access your information by answering some questions to verify that you are who you say you are. Beware though, as these questions are hard. If you don’t remember the make and year of your vehicle from ten years ago, you may be denied access to your credit report. They do this for your own protection though. Once you have answered the questions correctly, you will then be able to view what you want to see where you stand credit-wise, and to be sure no one else is getting credit in your name.
