Gun Collecting
If my family knew about my gun collection, they would probably disown me. You see, I didn't grow up in a a typical family for gun collecting. My parents are both pacifists, and they hate guns. Nonetheless, I have always loved weapons of all sorts since I was a little kid. Back in the day, I used to love swords. I was going through that medieval fixation that most kids have at one point or another, and I couldn't get enough of knights in shining armor. After that, I moved on to the old West. That was when I first became interested in gun collecting. My gun collection as a little kid consisted of cap guns that I had managed to sneak in past my parents. This was a bit of a problem because I wasn't allowed to play with them. It was almost impossible to resist, but I had to find a way. Usually, I would wait till they had to run out to get groceries. Then I would take my favorite toy police pistol out and start pretending to shoot out the streetlights. When I got a little bit older, I got a little bit more serious with my gun collecting. My uncle knew that I was interested in toy guns, and thought it was a shame that my parents were so opposed to me having them. He got me a BB gun for my 15th birthday and I managed to hide it successfully for my parents. I would go out with them and shoot tin cans in a nearby field when we had visits. It was a lot of fun. Of course, my antique gun collecting has only started recently. Collecting guns is something you need a little bit of money for, and up until my mid-20s I really was pretty broke most of the time. The only gun I had was a little pistol for self-defense. I like the rifle that I have nowadays much better. Some of them are actual civil war antiques! Other ones are good for hunting or even for self-defense. I have them all proudly displayed in the case, but I keep that case in the back room of my basement. That way, my family won't see it when they come over to visit. I guess there are some things I will always have to be a little bit secretive about. Still, it doesn't really matter as long as I get to keep gun collecting.
